Zach, Clayton, and Jordan—collectively known as Cosmic 93—are a high-octane, energetic trio of musicians. They met through Banding Together (a sister organization to The Music Therapy Center), where they bonded over their diverse musical tastes and started jamming together.
Cosmic 93’s sound blends rock with the rhythm of bossa nova, featuring a musical dance-off where the guitar and sax trade licks. Accompanied by their music director, Lisa Hightower, they have become regular guest musicians at Banding Together—a nonprofit providing group music services to individuals with autism. Their setlist includes hits from Carlos Santana, Survivor, Camila Cabello, and Chicago, alongside their original song, "Forever Young."
It was the youthful wisdom of "Forever Young" that caught the attention of 91X radio host Hillary, who offered Cosmic 93 the opportunity of a lifetime: airplay for their song, provided they could record it. Racing against the clock, Cosmic 93 accepted the challenge. With Lisa’s support and a partnership with Rice from Apt 4 Music—a nonprofit offering inclusive music lessons—the band entered the studio to experience the recording process for the very first time.
Zach, Clayton, and Jordan learned the ropes of miking drums and amps, tracking, layering, and post-processing. To capture the live energy, they recorded the initial track as a full band, then individually layered in their rhythm and lead guitars, saxophone, piano, and vocals.
Hillary set the challenge, and Cosmic 93 delivered. When it was time to go on air, the band was invited to 91X HQ, where they received a tour of the facilities and were interviewed by Hillary about their formation, inspirations, and what the future holds.
